Getting medical care in Korea as a visitor

If you need an ambulance

Call 119 in Korea. Give your location as precisely as possible, describe what is happening and follow the dispatcher’s instructions. If you know the Korean address or a nearby landmark, have it ready.

Arrange a routine visit

For a routine concern, contact a nearby clinic and ask whether it treats your condition and accepts walk-ins. Some larger hospitals have international healthcare centers; ask about appointments and interpretation before travelling.

What to bring

  • Identification and any health or travel insurance information you have.
  • A list of medicines you take and allergies you know about.
  • The clinic’s address and a way to pay. Ask about fees and coverage rather than assuming insurance applies.

If you will make an insurance claim, ask the clinic for an itemized receipt and check which documents your insurer requires.
