Visiting a pharmacy in Korea
Look for 약국, explain what you need and ask the pharmacist to write down how to use the medicine.
A sign marked 약국 identifies a pharmacy. If language is a barrier, bring a written description of your symptoms or the packaging of a medicine you already take.
What to tell the pharmacist
- Your symptoms and when they started.
- The medicines or supplements you already use and any known allergies.
- Who the medicine is for. Ask whether a clinician should see you first.
Before you leave
Ask for the active ingredient, instructions, cautions and what to do if symptoms continue. Keep the original packaging. Similar-looking products can contain the same ingredient.
If the pharmacy is closed, check current opening hours before travelling elsewhere. For a medical emergency, call 119.
